About

Business owner & cancer survivor.

Denise has been in the Fitness Industry for over 29 years in the New England area. Denise was trained since she was 5 years old in Tap, Jazz and Ballet and continued on this path competing and teaching dance until she was 19 years of age. Denise then began working out in a fitness club and enjoyed the group atmosphere in exercise classes. She was initially certified by A.F.A.A. (American Fitness Association of America). Denise began teaching aerobics, step aerobics and Total Body sculpting classes in numerous fitness facilities throughout the years. She was also certified through Step Reebok, Mad Dogg Athletics, Keiser Indoor Cycling, Resist-a-ball, Indo-Row, Lagree, NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine, and additional Strength and Conditioning organizations.

Denise opened CORE-Center of Real Energy LLC in 2006 and pursued her dream of fitness after working in a corporate setting in Boston for 15 plus years. She continued to grow the business throughout the years by expanding into a second location along with a Pilates studio in Providence, RI. As a cancer patient in 2018 with Hodgkins Lymphoma, Denise’s mission slightly shifted with her studio and she decided to create one studio with multiple facets of fitness under one roof. She also brought in a program called LAGREE as the first RI studio to provide this type of fitness regime. Denise’s goal is to provide smart, safe and effective training for all of the clients. Her goal is to create a community for all ages and fitness levels to come and reach their personal best.

Denise is a member of IDEA, NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association), and ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine). She works closely with the Lifespan Cancer Institute, RI Hospital, and Hasbro Children’s Hospital and has been on the Board of Governors for R.I. Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and most recently was asked to join R.I. Hospital’s board of Trustees. She is an advocate for the Lifespan organization and has had many successful fundraisers within her studio to fundraise for Lifespan.

Denise is also a certified Cancer Exercise Specialist and plans to help out cancer patients with their health and wellness. She currently teaches Indoor Cycling Performance and Rhythm Rides, her own Core Body-Barre workout, Total Body Training Classes and Lagree. Denise is the Lead Trainer for her facility and welcomes all to this wonderful community.

She is currently available for boutique fitness consulting and exercise training.

Local Ambassador

Motivating the local Providence community with Lululemon

My involvement as an ambassador in the last 3 years has been very rewarding. Lululemon is all about community involvement and being a leader for your local community. Bringing awareness to the community and the brand is part of being an ambassador. Supporting other community business owners, as well as, setting an example of inclusiveness and showing leadership through kindness, and support for all.

IN HER COMMUNITY

Through advocacy and empowerment, Denise shares her experiences as a business owner and also her personal journey with cancer.

I am a Lululemon Ambassador; I am on the Board of Directors for Lifespan RI Hospital; I am involved with Lifespan Cancer Institute as an Exercise Cancer Specialist; and I am involved with raising funds for Hasbro Children’s Hospital and their annual Gala which this year, 2022 I am the Co-Chair for the Event.

GIVING BACK

Fundraising for a cause.

After a personal experience with Cancer, I support the Lifespan Cancer Institute of RI to raise money for various needs for individuals going through Cancer Treatment. I am also involved with Hasbro Children’s Hospital fundraising efforts to help with children and the various programs within the cancer department to help children have programs and supplies to help with long term care within the hospital for all families. I am also involved with fundraising for the Gloria Gemma Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness. I am involved with a program called “Heading Home” in Massachusetts to support the transition from homelessness to someone’s first home for families in need. Fundraising efforts and giving back is something that I want to do, not that I have to do. I enjoy making people happy and hoping to help even just a little is very gratifying.
